The Chandler Police Department Volunteers In Policing program is always seeking additional volunteers to become part of our team. Currently, we are accepting applications for people interested in becoming a Motorist Assist Volunteer. Volunteers respond to stranded motorists, accident scenes and other non-criminal calls for service. Volunteers can issue citations for parking violations, and assist with vehicle lockouts, found property calls and perform neighborhood patrols.
The academy will run for six weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, beginning on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, with one Saturday class on October 2, 2010. After graduation, the volunteer will receive fifty hours of hands-on field training.
Anyone interested in becoming a Motorist Assist volunteer must be at least 21 years of age, posses a valid Arizona Driver’s License and successfully complete a background investigation. Applications are due by July 30, 2010.
