Recruit Officer Information
The Chandler Police Department is currently hiring Police Officers.

The primary function of an employee in this class is to receive formal and informal training through participation in the Police Department training program. Employees participate in formal, structured training at a police academy and may participate in training classes arranged by in-service trainers. Work methods and results are under constant review by supervisory personnel through observation, discussion, and results achieved. Upon successful completion of the training period, as determined by the Police Chief, incumbent will be appointed to the Class of Police Officer.
Starting salary is $26.47 per hour.
• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• Must be 21 years of age by academy graduation
• Meet or exceed the physical standards established by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST)
• Be a citizen of the United States of America
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Our next application process will start accepting applications and written test scores from the National Testing Network on 6/21/21 through 8/15/21.
During an opening, you must submit an application via Chandleraz.gov and complete a written test through the National Testing Network via National Testing Network. When you visit the National Testing Network website select ‘Find Jobs’, then select Law Enforcement Jobs under “Job Class,” select All regions under “Region,” and select Arizona under “State.” Sign up for City of Chandler Police Department test. Review the minimum requirements and then select the date and location of where you want to take your written exam. The written test scores are good for 1 year from the time the test is completed.

• Review detailed information about the testing process.
• Review the Frequently Asked Questions and take an online practice test (if desired).
After your application and written test have been completed, you will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule a date for the physical agility test.
You must fill out a background packet to be turned in at the physical agility test. Please print the packet single-sided.
Physical Agility Test
The next Physical Agility Tests for in state applicants are scheduled for 9/11/21 (morning) and 9/15/21 (evening). The next Physical Agility Test for out of state applicants is scheduled for 9/20/21. Out of state applicants please make travel arrangements to stay 3-5 after the physical agility test so you can complete the oral board, background interview and polygraph before you leave town.
Complete the physical agility test on the date scheduled with Human Resources, bringing your completed background to turn in. Make sure to have both packets neatly clipped, notarized, and not contained in a folder or envelope.
The minimum PT requirements are as follows:
31 sit-ups within 1 minute
21 push-ups within 1 minute
1.5 mile run in less than 14:29
Applicants passing the PT will will be scheduled for an oral board during the same week.
The next round of oral boards will be 9/20/21-9/30.
Applicants passing the oral board will be scheduled for a background interview.
Applicants passing the background interview will be scheduled for a polygraph examination. For out-of-state applicants, we will attempt to complete all of the above steps prior to your departure.
Once these steps have been successfully completed, the background investigation begins.
Applicants passing the background investigation will receive a conditional job offer. You will then be scheduled for a psychological exam, medical exam, drug screen, and an interview with the Police Chief.
Applicants passing all of the above steps will receive a final job offer.
