GENERAL INFORMATION

The Chandler Police Department is currently hiring Police Officers.

Summary

The primary function of an employee in this class is to receive formal and informal training through participation in the Police Department training program. Employees participate in formal, structured training at a police academy and may participate in training classes arranged by in-service trainers.  Work methods and results are under constant review by supervisory personnel through observation, discussion, and results achieved.  Upon successful completion of the training period, as determined by the Police Chief, incumbent will be appointed to the Class of Police Officer.


Pay Range

Starting salary is $26.17 per hour.


Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency
• Must be 21 years of age by academy graduation
• Meet or exceed the physical standards established by the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST)
• Be a citizen of the United States of America
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. 


APPLICATION PROCESS

Application

Our next application process will be open from 11/1/20 through 11/29/20.

During an opening, you must submit an application via Chandleraz.gov. After your application has been submitted, you will be contacted by Human Resources to schedule a date for the physical agility test.

You must fill out a background packet to be turned in at the physical agility test. Please print the packet single-sided.

Physical Agility Test

The next Physical Agility Tests are scheduled on 12/5/20 and 12/12/20.

Complete the physical agility test on the date scheduled with Human Resources, bringing your completed background and PH packets to turn in. Make sure to have both packets neatly clipped, notarized, and not contained in a folder or envelope.

The minimum PT requirements are as follows:

31 sit-ups within 1 minute

21 push-ups within 1 minute

1.5 mile run in less than 14:29

Applicants passing the PT will take the written exam on the same day; those who pass both tests will be scheduled for an oral board.


Oral Board

The next round of oral boards will be held 1/4/21 through 1/14/21.

Applicants passing the oral board will be scheduled for a background interview.


Background Interview

Applicants passing the background interview will be scheduled for a polygraph examination. For out-of-state applicants, we will attempt to complete all of the above steps prior to your departure.

Once these steps have been successfully completed, the background investigation begins.


Conditional Offer

Applicants passing the background investigation will receive a conditional job offer. You will then be scheduled for a psychological exam, medical exam, drug screen, and an interview with the Police Chief.
