Manager Michelle Potts

Michelle Potts began in law enforcement as a high school business intern in 1992 with the Tempe Police Department.  She then became a volunteer with the department until 1996 when she was hired as a 911 operator.  Ms. Potts promoted to a dispatcher in 1997 and then to a dispatch shift supervisor at the end of 1999.  She remained a supervisor with Tempe until early 2008 when she accepted the manager position with the ASU Police Department.  Ms. Potts moved to her current position in December 2011.

Ms. Potts participates in a few regional groups.  She is currently the state president for the Motorola Trunked Users Group (MTUG), which provides a venue for information exchange between Motorola and public safety agencies using Motorola radio systems.  She is also active in the Maricopa County Public Safety Answering Point Managers group, which works to address 911-specific issues in the region.

Ms. Potts holds a Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Organizational Studies and a Masters of Administration in Public Management from Northern Arizona University.
