Chandler Police Arrest Fraud Suspect

CHANDLER, AZ. On 05/13/2008 at approximately 4:15pm, Chandler Police Department detectives from the Financial Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at 660 South Fir Street, in Chandler. Stephan James Doimas (61), from Chandler, was taken into custody without incident when he answered the door. The Financial Crimes Unit and Computer Crimes Unit searched the residence and were able to recover hundreds of tax documents and account information on several people (known victims and potential victims), six guns and several computers. The suspect was later booked on charges including Fraud Schemes (F2), Theft (F3), multiple counts of Forgery (F4), and Threats (M1).
Detectives will be conducting several weeks of follow up to determine the total value of loss and number of victims as well as the seizure of some bank accounts. Preliminary loss totals have exceeded $12,000 and this is expected to rise as the investigation continues.
