For Immediate Release
Monday April 7, 2008

CHANDLER, AZ. On April 5, 2008, Christopher Reyes, a 21-year old Mesa resident, and Virginia Quezada, a 33-year-old Tempe resident, assaulted and held a 26-year-old Mesa man against his will, at a Chandler residence located in the 1200 N Block of Dakota Street, in an attempt to deprive him of a recently received cashier check of a substantial amount of money.  Reyes had recently befriended the victim.  During the morning of April 5, 2008, Reyes talked the victim into taking him to a residence located in the 1200 N. Block of Dakota Street, in Chandler.  Once at the residence, Reyes hit the victim over the head with a frying pan.  After assaulting the victim, Reyes and Virginia Quezada tied up the victim and held him against his will.  Reyes then took the victim’s car keys and wallet.  While Quezada watched over the bound victim, Reyes drove the victim’s car to a hotel where the victim was staying and obtained the victim’s cashier check.

After obtaining the check, Reyes returned to the Chandler location and forced the victim into his car.  While Quezada drove, Reyes held the victim at knifepoint in the back seat.  Quezada and Reyes then picked up William Vega, a 37-year-old Tempe Resident whereupon they checked into a Mesa hotel.  At the hotel, the suspects planned to force the victim to clean up in order to cash the check at a bank.  Reyes threatened to kill the victim and his family if he did not comply with their plans.  After the victim cleaned up the four left the hotel room for the victim’s car.  At this point, the victim ran from the suspects.  Reyes, Quezada and Vega fled in the victim’s car.

On April 6, 2008 at approximately 11:30 A.M, the victim’s vehicle was located in an apartment complex in Tempe.  Reyes was arrested after he entered the victim’s vehicle and attempted to drive away.  On April 6, 2008, at approximately 5:00 P.M., Quezada was arrested as she was attempting to leave a Tempe residence. Vega has susbsequently turned himself into police.
