Chandler Police Continue Partnership in Memory of Shevy Wright

CHANDLER, AZ. The Chandler Police Department is continuing its partnership with Dobson Academy in memory of Shevy Wright. Shevy was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and he had two wishes, one wish was to take his family to Disney World and his second wish was to become a Chandler Police Officer, which was granted by the Chandler Police Department. When Shevy succumbed to the tumor, he was given an honorable officer’s funeral.

The event that put Shevy and his family in touch with The Chandler Police Department was last year’s Art for the Heart fundraiser at Dobson Academy, which was Shevy’s school.  Dobson Academy raised over $22,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona and the Wright Family.  Dobson Academy not only helped Shevy’s wish of taking his family to Disney World come true, but also raised enough money to help another child’s wish come true. 

The second annual Art for the Heart Art Walk will be held on Saturday March 29, 2008 from 5:00-9:00pm at Dobson Academy located at 2207 N. Dobson Rd. in Chandler. There will be both live and on-line auctions, vendors, live performers, children’s art gallery and other attractions. The City of Chandler’s Mayor Boyd Dunn will be the Master of Ceremonies supporting National Youth Art Month. Net proceeds from this event will benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Arizona, and the Chandler Police Department’s Team 905. The school will host a kick off school assembly on Thursday March 13, 2008 at 8:30am.
