Chandler Police Arrest 7 Armed Robbery Suspects

CHANDLER, AZ. On March 5, 2008 at approximately 9:00pm, members of the Chandler Police Department’s Special Assignment Unit (SAU), Criminal Apprehension Unit (CAU), Gang Unit, and Patrol worked together and took into custody 7 Phoenix gang members at 887 W. Germann Rd. in Chandler.
The Chandler Police Department received a tip about these suspects committing armed robberies on “stash houses” that typically contain illegal drugs, money, weapons, and/or undocumented immigrants. Surveillance was set up on these members and they were followed to the target house in Chandler last night. After arriving at the house, our officers attempted to take them into custody where upon the suspects fled on foot and in two separate vehicles. All were subsequently captured in the immediate area. One suspect on foot sustained internal injuries when he was struck by one of their fleeing cars. Recovered at the scene were two rifles, two handguns, and body armor. The seven suspects are:
- Cherry, Dante Paul 21 from Phoenix (hospitalized)
- Smith II, Joseph Lavance 30 from Phoenix
- Smith, Carlos G. 27 from Phoenix
- Ross, Brian Keith 33 from Phoenix
- Jones, Dawone Montay 26 from Phoenix
- Hagler, Aaron James 22 from Phoenix
- Gonsalvez, James Lee 32 from Phoenix
Charges consist of Armed Robbery with a deadly weapon (F2), First Degree Burglary (F2), and Resisting Arrest (F6). For further information contact Sergeant Rick Griner.
