Chandler Police to Continue DUI Enforcement with Help from GOHS Grant

CHANDLER, AZ. The Chandler Police Department will continue to receive assistance from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) through a grant, which will be used to supplement the DUI team during holiday and special directed enforcement operations. The purpose of these operations is to reduce alcohol related crashes and fatalities. These efforts will be in furtherance of the GOHS current campaign, “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest.” Citywide enforcement details can be expected but not limited to: St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, proms and graduations, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
Last year the grant allowed for 107 additional officer shifts worked which resulted in 152 total DUI arrests with an average BAC of .132, and 230 other citations issued.
