Blue Basket Bandit Resurfaces After Nearly Six Months
For Immediate Release

CHANDLER, AZ. Since running this story back in August, the Blue Basket Bandit has not been heard from; but he surfaced again on February 1, 2010, when he attempted a theft at the Walgreen’s store at 4949 West Chandler Boulevard. The Chandler Police Department is asking the public’s help in identifying the thief known to Walgreen’s as the “Blue Basket Bandit.” Over the past two and a half years, the unknown white male has stolen approximately $10,000 worth of cosmetic merchandise from the Walgreen’s stores around Chandler and neighboring cities. The suspect enters the Walgreen’s, picks up a blue shopping basket, and proceeds to the cosmetics section where he removes various cosmetics by sweeping them into the basket with his arm. He then removes a Walgreen’s plastic bag from his pocket and transfers the cosmetics from the basket to the bag. The suspect then walks out the front without paying. The thefts range from $300 to $700 in merchandise each time. The suspect often changes his appearance and will use different vehicles for each theft, removing the license plate from the vehicle before committing the theft.
The suspect is described as a white male; about 5’ 7”, medium build and brown hair. In the most recent case, he has some grey in his hair and appears to have lost weight.
The Chandler Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about this case to call 480-782-4130 or Detective Preston Pierce at 480-782-4335.
