On January 12, 2010, Chandler Police arrested Laurie Bassett for fraud schemes, theft and twenty-five counts of forgery. Laurie and her husband, James Basset, defrauded the Dobson Academy School, located at 2207 N. Dobson Road, of at least $20,000.
Bassett worked in the finance department for the school and over the past year has made false invoices for various janitorial and school supplies. After making an invoice, Bassett would write a check to herself or to her husband for the cost of the supplies. When the school conducted an audit, they noticed a three hundred percent increase in school supplies and soon determined Bassett was embezzling money from the school.
At this time, James Alan Bassett has not been located and is wanted for the crime of forgery. James is a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with brown eyes and blonde hair. Attached is a photograph of James. James drives a 1985 Chevrolet Van, bearing Arizona plate AEB-9980 and works in the construction industry. The Chandler Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about the location of James Bassett to call 480-782-4130. |
