On Sunday, October 2, 2005, Police were called to 960 North Jay Street and learned that Vasquez-Abuerto and three of his friends were drinking beer in the apartment complex parking lot when they were approached by five Hispanic males, one with a gun. Vasquez-Abuerto and his friends were ordered at gunpoint to give the five suspects any/all of their personal belongings including money, car keys, and jewelry. They all complied and before fleeing one of the suspects shot Vasquez-Abuerto in the head. Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both men are considered armed and dangerous and Police believe they know they are wanted. Both are members of the East Side Chandler Gang.
