Anti-meth Ordinance

antimeth ordinance title

A Chandler City Ordinance relating to the sale of products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine is in effect as of Wednesday, April 12, 2006.

The Ordinance, approved unanimously by the City Council in January, will affect all retail sales of the drugs that are commonly used in methamphetamine production.

Retailers are required to keep products containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine behind store counters or otherwise inaccessible without the assistance of a store employee.

Anyone purchasing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine in Chandler will be asked to provide photo identification. The buyer’s name, date of birth, address and the quantity purchased, will also be recorded by the employee making the sale. The employee making the sale shall also record their initials and the date of the sale. Retailers are required to retain the records for a period of 180 days and make the records available for inspection by law enforcement officials under the terms of the Ordinance.
