What is the Citizen Observer Program?
The Chandler Police Department offers the citizens of Chandler the opportunity to observe with either a Police Officer or a Dispatcher. Observing with a Police Officer would entail going out on patrol with the officer for a maximum of 5 hours (unless pre-approved by a Field Operations command/officer designee), taking calls for service, making citizen contacts, and other daily duties. Observing with a Dispatcher would consist of a tour of the Communications Center, and then sitting with the Dispatcher as calls for service are processed. Observations of ID Techs are also available.
How to Apply for a Tour of Observation
A waiver of liability - which can be picked up at the Police Department lobby, 250 E. Chicago St. - needs to be completed and signed. You will then be notified if your application for observation has been approved along with the scheduled date and time. You must be 18 years of age and observations are allowed only once in a 12 month period.
